Personal Factors

If this is your first visit to the textbook, please take a moment to read the About This Book chapter to get the most out of your experience.

Personal factors are recognised within the International Classification of Function; however, they are not included in the formal classification system (i.e. the chapters referred to in other sections of this textbook). While they exist independently of health conditions, these factors influence how the individual experiences disability and some (such as age and gender) are often included in data collection. Other personal factors may included ethnicity, Indigenous status, educational level, socio-economic status etc.
