I wish to firstly acknowledge Tui Gordon’s dedication to getting the book to be a pleasant learning experience for readers – a big THANK YOU for all your efforts!  Secondly, I acknowledge with gratitude three creativity experts and academic peer-reviewers – Dr Mark Kilgour, Dr Philip Dennett, and genii practitioner Nardus Oelofse – for their insights, input and feedback, taking precious time to ensure that the book is as accurate and up to date as possible. I want to lastly, but arguably most importantly, thank my composer-teacher-crafter mom Ina van Dyk, who can most certainly claim her role in raising someone who is keenly interested in all things around her. I dedicate this book to her and my father, Jurie Wynand van Dyk, who taught me the value of open-mindedness, considering alternative viewpoints and overcoming hurdles. I truly miss our long mental sparring sessions.
