What has been considered when designing this resource?

Language

- This resource has been written in Plain English to ensure the content can be easily read and understood.
- Terms that may be unfamiliar to readers have been defined. If the term appears in highlighted yellow, it can be clicked on to learn the definition. There is also a glossary at the end of the book, will all key terms.

Engagement

- This resource includes lots of different resources to ensure everyone has a way to engage with the information. This includes interactive activities, downloadable resources, videos and links to external resources for those who wish to extend their knowledge.
- All activities that require a reader to interact with the content on the screen have been prefaced with “Interactive Activity”.
- All interactive activities that contain information not presented elsewhere on the page also contain and “Activity Text Version” which is compatible with screen reader technology. The phrase “End of Activity Text Version” will indicate you have finished the content for that activity.
- All copyright statements are prefaced with “Copyright note.”
- Information is presented in short, easy-to-digest chapters.

Colour

- Information is not solely conveyed by colour.
- Contrasting colours have been considered to ensure maximum readability for those with dyslexia or vision impairments.
- Glossary terms are highlighted yellow to ensure maximum contrast with the page.
Accessibility:
- This resource is designed for use on a larger screen, such as a laptop due to the interactive activities. Experience using a smaller screen, such as a mobile phone may vary.
- This resource includes third-party content, including links to other resources, or embedded videos. Links for embedded videos take you to YouTube which has closed captions and transcripts available. Additional resources are linked throughout the text for further information and learning; however these are not compulsory to engage with.
- While care has been taken in selecting external resources, we cannot guarantee their accessibility or availability.
- Clicking on any link in this resource will cause it to open in the same tab for increased accessibility.
- Images are decorative unless alt text is provided.
