How to use this book
This book is designed to be a basic introduction to systematic and scoping reviews. It is not intended to replace expert methodological guidelines such as Campbell, Cochrane, or JBI, or reporting guidelines such as PRISMA. These sources should always be consulted when conducting reviews.
The book is structured according to the stages of conducting a review. It can be read as a whole, or as individual chapters.
Each chapter contains:
- learning outcomes: These summarise what you will learn about in the chapter.
- glossary words: Terminology you may be unfamiliar with can be clicked with your mouse to show a definition.
- activities: Videos or activities designed to reinforce and give you practice with the content.
- further reading: References to articles or other resources that give you more information about the chapter topic. Some of these may require you to log in through your institution.
- references: A list of all the sources used in the chapter. You could also read some of these if you are interested in finding out more.
At the end of the book is:
- a glossary: A list of all the terminology defined in the book.
- a resource list: A list of all the resources in the book.
There is also a list of the various programs and tools mentioned.
