The idea of adapting the Legal Research Skills: An Australian Law Guide: 2023 Edition to be a New Zealand-specific legal research text was the catalyst for a collaborative project involving multiple universities within Aotearoa New Zealand.

The project team are grateful for the support, enthusiasm and encouragement of our Australian colleagues in this mahi and especially wish to acknowledge the support from Alice Luetchford at James Cook University.

This guide is the result of a generous-spirited, open collaborative effort between current and former law librarians from:

  • Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makau Rau | Auckland University of Technology;
  • Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland;
  • Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | The University of Canterbury;
  • Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka | The University of Otago;
  • Te Herenga Waka | Victoria University of Wellington.

An amazing amount of goodwill has been shared and reciprocated within this project and is very much appreciated.

Grateful acknowledgment is also given to the exceptional staff at the Council of Australasian University Librarians (CAUL) OER Collective for expert guidance and providing the hosting platform for this freely available resource.
